Notes

knit toe-up on bamboo double points as airplane-safe knitting. had to rip out twice, now settled on downsizing the project by one stitch on every repeat. didn’t have any bamboo double points in a smaller size, knitting them on 2.5’s yields a not-quite-tight-enough fabric, but i’m not knitting them again.

update jan 21st 2008: i managed to squeeze a knee sock out of the first 50 gram skein. started the second sock, just past the heel turn (toe-up).

update jan 28th 2008: finished!

so how i did these: magic cast on for the toe, knit the pattern repeat minus one stitch on every pattern repeat. so:

Row 1: k4, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat eight times
Row 2: k3, k2tog, yo, k2, repeat eight times
etc. and then you can end after row 5 or row 10 for the short row heel which i knit with double wraps. then i did another 10 repeats of the pattern, then i increased the pattern as written (8 stitch pattern width, row 6 or 12 to end) for the calf increase. k1,p1 cuff and i used up all my yarn to the very last drop. one knee sock from each 50 gram ball of jojoland melody. i think i got such long socks because my gauge was so loose with the 2.5 mm bamboo dpns. the colors are gorgeous and i love that i finished them.
