Probably won’t start a “project” for each penguin, but maybe I“ll document this as just the first, and add more pictures. I don’t know how many I’ll ultimately make -- from 3 to 9, I think (Three as singles, one playable set).
First one done. Not hard, not much yarn. Completion date represents the first penguin. “Final” of bowling set was finished for Christmas
Penguin 2 is black. It was there. For some reason he’s rather short.
Penguin 3 is camouflage. And has his own small cannon.
Penguin 4 has flippers and a flower, for younger daughter.
Penguin 5 was camo for the OTHER daughter. For what it’s worth, as of #4 I found the perfect base -- concentrated frozen juice can bottoms. Much better than the plastic lids recommended in the original pattern and coincidentally the exact right size.
The group picture is penguins 1,2,6, 7, 8 and 9. They should be the bowling set, though 1 & 2 have softer bottoms/don’t stand as well. Kids wouldn’t mind if they inherited them. (The Blue & Black ones) and I made some more. The red guy is a bit undersized, if I want a really standard set. (Seems to be the yarn weight). And 1 & 2 have a slightly different color white belly …. Stop me before I’m overrun!
Now it can be told. The presents were to my mother (because of a bowling accident) and to a friend who is a disabled military vet who likes penguins. The cannon is “The perfect place for my asthma inhaler”.
Mom likes it! I guess you’re never too old to be silly.
Roll-up armadillo (instead of ball) was finished Dec 23. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/fiddlerbird555/roll-up-ar...
