Either the yardage is really shorter in the newer yarn, or I stitched less tightly but I have less than 20 gr to stitch the waistband. I must either change my pattern or borrow some yarn from another colorway.

I didn’t have enough yarn and added about a third of a new ball (selecting colours) to finish the (shortened) waistband. (Finished January the 15th)

On wearing the skirt,I realised it is too long. So yes, the yarn was heavier (as the shorter yardage seem to hint) or I stitched (much) looser (not likely). I will take out the waistband, and use only the original yarn to make a simple elastic casing. It will be a little more bulky around the waist, but the length will be more flattering.

After wearing it for one week, I can confirm I knit looser that ten years ago. I should maybe felt the fabric slightly before re-knitting the waist band. There is no way I will take it all out and start again.
It is still a beautiful skirt, but I am annoyed it is not as good proportionally as the first one I did. Sigh.
