Started with size G hook.
I basically used my Single Crochet Beanie pattern crown for the bottom, worked to 17sc between increases, worked 2 rounds through front loop only, switched hook to size E and continued until it was tall enough, worked 2 rounds of; ch 3, sk 1 sc, ch1 in next sc.
