Notes

This was my 2022 Advent project, using lace yarn from my stash. I dyed these using natural dyes for the lighter tones and acid dyes for the darker tones.

Advent started on November 27th this year, so I needed to knit approx 3700 sts per day to finish in time for Christmas christmas_tree

That was doable but very time consuming.
Towards the end, I was glad to have the Christmas deadline to motivate me to keep knitting.

Another knitter called it “an endurance project” and that’s exactly what it is. You’re basically knitting 2 shawls, in lace, on 2.75mm needles.

That said, it was worth it, I love the final product!

If you want to make something similar :
-Don’t forget to use the last yarn from your 1st triangle as the last yarn for the second one (in my case the medium pink).
-For every color used (excluding the darkest color used for separations & icord), I never needed more than 15g of yarn per color (in total, counting both triangles). You might want to make sure you have 20g available just in case you have a different yardage & gauge, but you won’t need whole skeins.
-I made sure my gradient of color was circular (aka my 1st and last color would keep transitioning into each other). That way I could somehow reverse the color order for the second triangle (keeping that last medium pink color for the end/join!)
-Unless you’re a saint and love weaving in ends… just weave them as you go (all 86 of them!).
-to make picking up stitches around the shawl a bit easier, I used a 2mm hook.
-Icord knit using a 3mm needle.
