Bright color palette chosen by recipient: neon blue, white, azalea pink, Christmas red

There were several problems in the making of this sweater, starting from the yarn: the white color despite being the same brand and weight as the others, has slightly different gauge, and this resulted in messy colorwork tension.

I started size 10, but it was huge, and the ruffles at the end made it very heavy (I think I used two balls of yarn, 100 grs total, just for the ruffles). So I ripped it back and made size 8, which fits perfectly my 9 year old.

I used 4 colors instead of 6 for the yoke. The colorwork in the picture in the pattern is different from what you get if you follow the chart. The chart has 6 extra rows (i.e. the little cross at the top, and different row count in smaller sizes). I realized this too late, and didn’t rip back, but it would be better to skip those rows and go straight from the main colorwork to the neckline, as that extra fabric makes an oddly shaped yoke (vigorous blocking somewhat helped, but you can see from other knitters’ projects what the problem is).
