I wrote extensively on the blog here about the making of this project, from Portuguese sheep to sweater.

Briefly: the yarn is one that every knitter and fiber-lover should have the experience of working with: a real natural product, and not an industrial and super-processed one like the average yarn on the market. Beiroa is a pleasure as well as an incredible experience to work with.

The pattern is very clear and well written, and shows great care in its design and all technical details. The combination of button-up and top-down construction is very clever, and it allows for easy customizable length. Despite the use of five contrasting colors, the design is thought out in such a way that the stranded knitting is effortless.

Mods: because of gauge, I made an XS, but knitted the full-size yoke, and added a couple of stitches to sleeves (2) and body (4 stitches). I also repeated a small portion of the color work on the body and sleeves (I made sure that the total number of stitches were a multiple of 4) to break a little the plain stockinette stitching. I worked the rib 1ktbl 1p, because the yarn is slightly irregular, and I like ribbing to be as neat as possible. To ensure a stretchy neckline, I did an invisible sewn bind off.
