Notes

My MIL admired my Miranda’s Sea Shawl by the Sea Shore knit of Miranda 70/30 SW Merino Seacell by flyngmunky.

I decided to interpret it in MIL’s favorite color, purple. I got the 70/30 SW Merino Seacell fiber from ChamomileConnection.etsy.com. I dyed it in Deep purple, violet and magenta, purchased from WC Mercantile. I picked the colors to match gifts that we’d given MIL in the past that she kept using. One was a Star Ruby Sapphire ring and the other was a Bali batik fabric Lone Star quilt that I made.

The first sample and swatch was darker than I wanted the final shawl, so when spinning I added 50% more of the undyed fiber. I spun singles using my Magic Wand that DH made and then Navajo plied it. I made a makeshift lazy kate from a Genvalia coffee box and rolled up the ball for knitting.

I had 96 grams when I finished spinnging, which should have been enough yarn. I came up 4 grams short and dyed up some more and did the fastest speed spinning & knitting ever seen and made it to the post office in time for Christmas.
