Notes

After completing the first version of the One Thousand Cranes knitting pattern, I decided to see if there were other origami crane inspired knitting patterns on Ravelry. I found this one:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crane

The pattern is in this book:

http://www.amazon.com/Knitalong-Celebrating-Tradition-Kni...

I liked the way that the designer created a stackable crane. I wanted to have that element in my design as well. I also wanted an alternative 2 needle construction method than the first version as some knitters do not care to wrestle with a small amount of stitches on double pointed knitting needles.

I came up with this design. Starting with one side of the body with I cord edged garter st, the top decreases and then with a cable twist, the second side of the body is created joined to the first. Wings are pick up and knit directly onto the body. The neck and head are knit in one piece and affixed by sewing or using a crochet hook to draw yarn ends through the sides of the body and the base of the neck. The tail is created much the same.

The pattern for this will be added to the previous version.
