After seeing some cute crochet summer bags in my favorite stores, I browsed Ravelry and found this pattern to make my own. I’m very happy with how it’s turning out. It worked up in about a week and the directions were very clear. After reading the comments on other projects, I decided to shorten the handle to 180 chains instead of the 220 recommended on the pattern. I’m glad I did. I think the length is perfect.

The bag isn’t lined yet. I’ve cut the fabric and will pop in the lining in the next few days. I hope to be using my new bag soon.

Finished! I used a nautical striped cotton poplin to line the bag and handle. I interfaced the lining first to give the bag some structure. The lining went in easily, but took forever to sew in place by hand. I lined the handle separately and didn’t interface that bit. I worried it would be too stiff.

The final bag is bigger than I’d expected. Luckily, I like oversized bags, so I’m okay with the size.
