Sis-in-law wanted a shawlette, so she bought the pattern and yarn for me to knit this Ravellinic challenge.

Personally, I wish I had NOT used JMCO as the designer recommended because that caused a line of purl bumps when transitioning to Chart C. I reversed the ones that would have looked awful across the leaf, but it was a pain. I think a crochet cast on (with the M1 somewhere in the first row to make the numbers work out) might work better.

The charts, unfortunately, don’t take into account the increase/decrease stitches, so you can’t look at the row below to see if you’re on track. Really negates the best thing about using charts. Sad.

KatieK’s suggestion of putting a stitch marker after the 13th stitch on the first row is a good one. There will be 3 purl stitches to the right of that marker (on the right side). Then mark the chart where that stitch marker will be as the number of stitches increase and decrease, which will help you know where you are in the row.

I’ve included photos of the beginning and end. They’re okay, but I’m not real happy with them.

All in all, pretty, but not well thought out. If you like written out instructions, you might do okay, but the charts are very bad.
