Notes

Oct 5/20: opened discussions w/ Josh about doing a commission for him

Oct 13/20: yarn ordered today.

Oct 16/20: likely to head out to Staples today to get the pattern printed.

Oct 20/20: received shipping confirmation today.

Oct 28/20: yarn has arrived; expect to do concept drawing and gauge swatch today. Update: Mesa and Python charts (PDF format) in my Dropbox. Have also knitted up a gauge swatch. This is beautiful yarn.

Oct 29/20: started my c.o. today (tubular), but ended up dropping a st, so I’ll be restarting it again later tonight.

Oct 31/20: now completed 1-1/2” of the ribbing at the neckline, ready to start the short rows at the back.

Nov 2/20: ready to begin the Mesa logo. I advised against going with the original green and grey scheme for that motif, so now it’ll be white and grey on red. I love how this is knitting up so far.

Nov 3/20: my original smaller Python logo chart was only 10 sts high, as opposed to the 11 sts I can work with, so I’ve modified the chart for that. It’s 26 sts wide.

Nov 4/20: just about to work the increases before the snowflake section, then it’s off to make another custom colourwork section. I’m trying to figure out how best to do it, either with W&T Intarsia or stranded with Intarsia inserts…given the length the floats will probably have to be for the green sections working RS only, I’m leaning more towards Intarsia across the rows. Update: wove in all ends to this point and am ready to start my first custom Python logo round. Nov 18/20 update: ended up going with W&T Intarsia on the green sections, using the white and red stranded, then switched over to white and red stranded once I passed the stitch-heavy rows of green. As usual, I’m using a larger needle for the colourwork than I am for the one-colour stockinette.

Nov 7/20 midnight: past the first Intarsia/stranded slog!

Nov 10/20: split the sleeves yesterday. Today I have to figure out how to incorporate the larger Python chart into the reindeer motif.

Nov 12/20: three rows ‘til the end of the green Intarsia(!)

Nov 13/20: and here’s the final custom colourwork chart, for the Mesa and chevrons.

Nov 14/20: just have the final (DROPS-created) bodice chart to complete, and the straightaways for the front and back of the bodice before I can start the sleeves. Not bad progress for 2 weeks!

Nov 15/20: have begun the plain stockinette section near the hem.

Nov 16/20: just about to begin the ribbed hem for the front! Update: expect to be done the torso entirely tonight.

Nov 17/20: done the bodice! On to the sleeves.

Nov 18/20: done the colourwork on the left sleeve. Will attempt to get the right sleeve’s colourwork done today too, then can work TAAT on the sleeves.

Nov 19/20: on to the straightaways for the sleeves. Having taken a picture of the progress to this point, I think I’m more comfortable adding extra length to the bodice -- the proportions are off, even if the length isn’t.

Nov 22/20: expect I’ll be done the knitting today. Will still have to do the personalization request -- think I might do a basic embroidery (maybe cross-stitch) for that.

Nov 23/20: finished knitting and weaving in the last of the ends last night, sewed in the personalization, then blocked. It should take a few days to dry.

Nov 25/20: almost dry! Should be able to get a quote out to Josh tomorrow.

Nov 26/20: shipping quote sent!

Nov 27/20: mailed off today!
