Sock shaping: Judy’s Magic c.o. 28 sts; inc. e.o. row (1 st in @ ea. side, front & back) to achieve 54 sts; 1 row blue, 1 row white, 1 row blue, begin chart; after heel shaping, inc. 1 st to either side of the back seam; (worked chart @ 32 sts wide)
Apr 24/14: for those who, like me, just want to know that the chart repeat is, use page 8 of the PDF download.
Apr 25/14: two-at-a-time stranded socks are damned hard to keep untangled, but they’re so fascinating to work on. I love this semi-solid yarn, too.
Apr 29/14: turned the heels this morning, then wet-blocking the feet of these socks to make it easier for me to try them on; they were just a bit too snug without wet-blocking.
May 2/14: I meant to note earlier that this skein of Tough Love Sock weighed in at a generous 120 g. Update: I’ve discovered some errors in my colourwork a few rows down, so I’m running down and picking back up with a crochet hook in an attempt to remedy the situation, whilst hopefully not utterly f@¢¢ing up my gauge.
May 5/14: uploaded pics of the back leg of the right sock to show where I used a crochet hook to fix the errors I made in the chart two evenings ago. I had to do the same for the left sock, but to a lesser extent.
May 9/14: I’ve been having to take breaks; I seem to be able to work 1/2 chart repeat in an evening, but it’s hard enough on my hands that I don’t want to push in to doing the same thing on the following day. This usually means that I work one day on, one day off. So far, it’s working out.
May 20/14: got massively side-tracked on the day of the last entry, just under two weeks ago, when mom and dad brought over the first of the bins of vintage toys that my sister and I had under the stairs at their house. I’ve been cleaning, sorting and restoring those in my free time, thus pushing this project to the side. I’ve got less than one pattern repeat left to work on these socks before I can begin the ribbing, ‘though, so I’m nearly there. Tonight is likely to be given over to knitting, since I’m making solid progress on it today.
May 21/14: one-half of a pattern repeat left to work before I can begin the ribbing. Update: I am done the chart!
May 24/14: just have to block.
May 26/14: these are dry, but I’m either going to have to re-block them wider in the ankle portion or give them to my sister, who’s a half-size smaller than I.
Jun 28/14: time to face facts; these are probably never going to fit me (and they’re so beautiful). I suppose the silver lining is that now I have an accurate gauge swatch. Looks like Caty’s going to have a gorgeous pair of wool socks for the winter.
Jul 19/14: they take a bit of finagling in the heel, but they fit Caty well (weeps). I’ve updated the photo to show how they look on her.
