11/2: blocking it on the floor of my parents’ apartment (they have carpet, yayy)-- just need a good photo now.
10/7/08: this blanket has entered hibernation. it is 100% done but there is literally no place to block it
9/8/08: OMG how do you block this???? we’ve just moved and i don’t even have my blocking boards unpacked so basically i just soaked it and laid it over some collapsed cardboard boxes (see photo)… as it dries, of course, it’s curling back into itself since it’s not pinned. i might have to pin it to the bed and steam instead of wet-block. blahhhh. how do people wet block on their beds? don’t you have to sleep that night? i dont think DH would be very happy sharing the couch with me while my hemlock ring took possession of the mattress.
a few notes:
-used a full 11 skeins of DB cashmerino, worked through the brooklyn tweed version of the pattern, worked 3 rows in garter st, and bound off. i wanted it to be bigger but i literally only had a few yards left at the end.
-the reasoning for the DB was because it was on sale at webs-- it would have cost the same to make it in organic wool or cashmerino, so it was an obvious choice. in hindsight, though, this is going to be a LOT of ends to weave in. although i do lovvvve the softness
-i can’t get the color to photograph accurately. its sort of a dusty blue.
