5/28: started knitting this in japanese class because i figured it would be something my sensei wouldn’t make me put away. unfortunately, i misjudged the coldness of her heart (who can resist totoro??). so this is taking longer than the 2 days that it should have. made the bottom text “tonari no totoro” in japanese which reads both across the palms and tops of the mittens.

6/9: cast on the 2nd mitt during a filming of the daily show today-- ribbing is done

6/27: picked up the 2nd mitt again and got up to the top decreases. should be done soooon! :)

7/10: too small :(. even after blocking, i can get them on my hands but the thumbs pull and look kind of silly. i’ll still wear them probably (definitely not reknitting)… but i’m sad i didnt realize this sooner.
