two days before xmas a few years ago, DH and i were preparing to move. we had all our boxes packed, and took a quick drive to the mall to pick up presents for his family-- after which we planned we would pack up and drive to their house, spend xmas with them, and drive to our new place in new orleans.

about halfway to the mall, the car started acting really weird. we found a shell station and spent the next two days at a strip mall while we waited for them to fix it. meanwhile, i bought a crochet hook and some yarn at michaels and spent the time teaching myself to crochet at barnes and noble. i pretty much butchered the whole process and i never wear it, but i still made it-- and we still did get to his parents house by xmas (not in his car. his mother drove down and picked us up. the car, it turned out, was about to catch fire any second due to a leaky fuel line. hrmph)
