The pattern says to cast on with the yarn held double. With the cashmere yarn I cast on with only one strand, two would have been too thick.
Also, my first circulars were to dull, and the centered decreases were not smooth. I changed to a set of sharp and pointy Pyrex needles, and the decreases look good and are fun to knit.
