Sneeuwvlagen is Dutch for wind-blown snow; Google translates it as “snow flurries” but my family in the Netherlands say that’s not quite right. But I like the word. :) I made this on the fly for gift-giving. I give away a lot of booze during the holidays, I thought I’d make at least one bottle more merry.

For the snowflake, I’d suggest finding your favorite snowflake design and use yarn and a larger crochet hook to complete. I make this one up and really didn’t count stitches or save the design as I went along. Single crochet the red, until it is big enough to go around the bottle. Sew the snowflake to the bottle, then sew the red to turn your rectangle into a tube. Look at picture, the work is actually turned on its side for this, the ros are going up and down, not side to side (see photo)

For the bottom I single crocheted 5, joined to form a loop; then chain 3… then treble crochet, ch 1 around 15times, join (you now have 16 posts in a hoop) single crochet 2X in each ch1 sp, next row single crothet, hext row double crochet; check bottom of bottle and tube to see if it is large enough, if not another single crochet row until you get there. Sew bottom to tube.

White yarn top: Look at work…hold it up to the light. You will see holes from each stitch in the rows…since the red is on it’s side, those holes are your rows for a variation of the crow’s foot stitch. $ single crochet into first row. Single crochet into second row. Single crochet into third row. Single crochet into second row. Single crochet into first row.$ Repeat from $ to $ all the way around. Next row, single crochet. Next row: ch 7. put your thumb on 7th stitch to keep your place, $$ ch 5.sc into 7th stitch you had your thumb on. ch 5. sc into 7th stitch. ch5. sc into 7th stitch. $$ sc down chain to the main part of the work, sc 5. repeat, only for the next one ch 14 instead of 7 before repeating $$ to $$. continue around like this, alternating 7 ch or 14 ch all around to end of row. Final row: double crochet into middle sc in between the chains in the chain row. Double crochet 8 times in same stitch, making fan; sc into stitch behind the next sc chain. Repeat all around.

Add wine or liquor bottle of your choice, and be merry!
