Notes

First time doing toe-up socks.

I cast on 24 with Judy’s Magic Cast-on from: http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html

Increased up to 64 and realised it was too big for my foot so I ripped back to 56 stitches.

First time doing the Fish Lips Kiss Heel. I put in a life-line before beginning the first one and I had to rip back twice because I was working the stitches wrong. On the third try I succeeded and I didn’t need the life-line on the second sock.

First time doing a sewn bind-off following instructions from: http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/2mlsocks_bindoff.htm

The first sock is a bit looser than the second but they’ll match up with some wear. They fit perfectly thanks to the sizing information from the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern.

It was also my first time using 15cm 2.25mm Karbonz DPNs. 20cm length would have been better (the shop didn’t have any), so I held the non-working stitches on a spare circular needle while I did the heel for fear of dropping them if I left them on the DPNs. The Karbonz were great to work with so I’ll be on the look out for a few of their circulars in the new year.
