I loooove love love this cardigan.

This is my first time working a more complex pattern. Up until now I’ve usually worked on items with short repeat patterns and basic instructions ;) This should be fun.

(note: I’m photographing at random times under random lighting conditions but all pics are from the same project)

23/11 - I ended up making 3 gauge swatches because I want to aim for the pattern’s gauge.

Got through half a dozen rows of the pattern, ripped it out because I wasn’t sure I was doing my increases correctly. Started again, got a bit further in, counted stitches, realised I’d missed one increase a few rows back so I slowly undid a row and a half stitch-by-stitch (reminding me I should put in a life life).

On rows 7 and row 8 I flipped the increases to match those on the previous/next rows (I did them right side and purl side respectively rather than reversed as suggested in the pattern).

Finished the night having made it through 11 rows. It took a looong time, needed a lot of concentration, but I’m starting to see the pattern now and remembering which way to insert the needle for increases (I don’t think I’ve ever done them purlside before).

24/11 - The knitting is getting easier and faster :) Yay! It’s already looking pretty and I don’t want to put it down.

26/11 - Sleeves and body divided, and working my way through the body. This cardigan is divine! It’s fitting perfectly so far :) :)

27/11 - A few waist decreases done.. not long to go until the body is complete.

28/11 - The body just keeps on going… about 4” to go before the bottom ribbing. It’s still looking great but I’m looking forward to working in a different pattern for the rib :)

30/11 - Working on the body’s bottom rib I’ve noticed (too late) that my minicables don’t align like they do in the pattern’s photos. I’m not sure if they’ve adjusted their spacing or something else is going on but it’s looking pretty enough not to worry (but I’ll dig in to when I knit this again some day).

I’m at the tail end of a ball of yarn and weighing it to see how much yarn a row uses. I might be a few grams short to complete the rib so I’ve decided to skip one pattern repeat - it’s looking tall enough for me.

2/12 - First sleeve almost complete. It’s working up quickly, I just haven’t had time to do more than a few rows at a time.

4/12 - I have two sleeves! Very exciting :)

6/12 - Knitting complete! The hood seems enormous but I’ll see how it goes after a wash. Time to block, add buttons, and photograph over the next few days :)

9/12 - It took a while to dry but the buttons are on :)
