Notes

A great final result. The yarn was a real treat to work with, and the pattern, although boring through much of it, was easy to follow. I did get a bit mixed up in the side increases/decreases in Eunny’s “x more times” notation, but the blame is probably to rest with me. The cables are a showstopper (although I would have liked a 1-into-5 increase that didn’t make a little ball of yarn under the stitch…), and it knits up true to form. The neck will be a bit puffy, and I had to iron it down to make it more natural. I put in grosgrain ribbon at the button band, and after a few wears it’s flattened out and makes the edging much more stable. All in all, a highly recommended sweater by one of my favorite designers.

About a quarter way through the garter rib on size 4s, because I’m a perpetually loose knitter.

Did I mention I hate garter rib? On the WS rows (which in this pattern you’re alternating k2 p2), it’s not terribly easy to see the garter blocks from the purl blocks. On the RS, I get wrapped up in the look of the rib, and find myself working in k2 p2 rib, instead of knitting straight across.

It’s me. I’ll get over it.

2/9 - Some Noro socks have definitely cut in line. I should take a picture of the sweater though… we’re in the middle of the garter rib and it’s just dull as all get-up. Oh well.

3/16 - I’m almost done with the bulk of the body - stockinette is time consuming! I’m also on the 4th ball of yarn, and have increased the length of the torso by about 2.5” (because I absolutely hate sweaters that ride up on me and barely skirt the top of my jeans). Sleeves are next, then the fun begins. Will I finish before the 90 degree days of summer?

3/28 - Halfway (or more?) done with the sleeves. Stockinette. Ug. (For the amount of complaining I’ve been doing here, you’d think that I hate this sweater! It’s lovely. Just taking up too much time.)

3/30 - I just estimated that it will take me around 3 more hours of knitting nonstop at speeds of minimum 25 stitches/minute to get done with the sleeves. Arrrgggggg. Maybe I can knit while reading Dolgorukaya tonight. And be done with these infernal stockinette tubes. Blargh.
-update - I timed myself, and get something like 30 sts/min. But Eunny gets 75. Methinks some drastic improvements need making.

4/2 - Sleeves attached to body! Commence on yoke! In other notes, I’ve started a blog, and I’m going to see if I can link the two of these up, because this project is getting too much of my personal thought, and it’s only been viewed 2 times. My exhibitionism is not getting fueled.

4/13 - On the drying rack! Photos soon to follow. I’m waiting for it to be dry so I can sew on the grosgrain ribbon, and then the finished product will be available for the world to see!

4/16 - Grosgrain sewn, sweater on! It puckers a little at the buttonband, but I think that the rest of the sweater will stretch and it won’t be a problem. It’s luscious. The color is great, the mistake rib is worth the frustration when blocked, and all in all I’m very happy. Pictures aren’t that great - I’ll work on that this weekend.
