Detailed blog post about this sweater at: SpinSpinSpin
Recolored the chart long ago, and have been sitting on the yarn for 2 years, maybe? The yarn is since discontinued (oops), so I hope I have enough in the end. I’ll be skipping the boatneck and making a plunging scoopneck or V instead, and may fiddle with sleeve length. Since as best I can figure, Eunny’s sort of weird sleeve set-in is due to the wide fronts for the boatneck, I’m going to modify that and do a more standard set-in sleeve, knitted along in the round, taking cues from shkitty’s Venezia II.
The sizing on this is tricky, as I’ll lengthen the torso (a necessity in Eunny patterns, I find), and possibly drop down to the 36” size in the bust. On one hand, I don’t want an oversized sweater, and I won’t be this size (breastfeeding) forever. On the other hand, though, I don’t want to stretch out such lovely fair-isle, and push-up bras exist for a reason. So we’ll see!
9/29/13 - In the finishing stretch! I’ve just finished off the sleeve caps today and am now in the final 16 or so rows of the front and back, with steeks connecting them. I’ve tried to show the logistics of this in photos, in case anyone else is trying a similar approach. I’ve also put my spreadsheet of decreases, which I’ve departed from a bit, but gives the overall idea of what I’m doing.
What remains is to make the neck shaping for the back, and also the slight slope shaping for the shoulders.
10/1/13 - Steeks are cut! I think I’m going to do a corrugated ribbing à la Autumn Rose for the neck, and I’ll also very likely take out the cuffs and bottom hem and do the same. Part of the reason for this is that I accidentally put the sleeves on backward, so the notch is in the front instead of the back, and I’m not convinced I really like the notch enough to take the cuffs off and graft them back on. And the bottom hem keeps flipping up, whereas the multicolor rib that is on the Autumn Rose is gorgeous.
10/17 - Finally finished. I french-braided all the loose ends on the sides together because I was totally lazy, and I’m really happy with how they turned out. I also redid all the hems, in a multicolor corrugated rib, although you can’t see the purl color very clearly. I added some length to the bottom in the ribbing, and after blocking everything softened up a lot. Just in time for Rhinebeck!
I overbought the yarn by essentially one ball per main color - could have done with 2 ea of navy, blue, teal, green, burgundy, one grey and 4 white, although it was nice to have the extra balls when I was doing the sleeves. The good news is, I can make some awesome coordinating thing, or baby sweater, with the remnants.
Leftover yarn quantities in balls (not counting swatch, scraps):
57.75g dark blue
59.09g middle blue
56.12g teal
63.68g green
31.4g grey
51.4g burgundy
89.8g white
Sweater weighs 348g total.
