Yes, I did shorten the wings a wee bit. I had plenty of yarn, it was more a matter of having a small frame and not wanting them to be so long. I did an additional increase every other repeat. So repeat #2 I did an additional decrease on the first row of color A, repeat #4 I did an additional decrease on the first row of color B, repeat. Ended up with 30 repeats instead of 38 - perfect!
10/22/12: someday I’ll get around to washing and wet blocking, but I’m already wearing it unblocked - might as well do the “lazy man / busy mama” block job: pin it, squirt it with water, call it good. :)
10/20/12: Done, just need to block this baby.
8/7 - Ugh!!! All this time I thought “wyib” meant with yarn in “back” of the piece, i.e. on the WS, and “front” referred to the “front” of the piece. Wrong! Realized by row 9 when mine was not looking right that back/front are in context of worked row - not the whole garment. Frog…
8/2 - Finishing up clue 2 … just in time for clue 4 to drop. Yep. That’s how I roll. Somehow I was thinking I could finish Autumn simultaneously. Sigh.
7/23 - Cruising along on clue 2 until I need to start counting stitches then … shit! How can I be 12 stitches short? YO K2 YO = 2+. Hum 2x12=24. 12 short. Duh!!! I have been in “lace land” for so long that my brain saw “YO K2 YO” but my hands betrayed me and did ‘YO K2TOG YO“! Frog!
7/17/12 Really happy I went with the Spinni for A & B, and this is just the right combination of easy-mindless/stay-on-your toes. Nice break from the wearisome lace and cable patterns.
7/14/12 Well drat! I did my blocking last night and the gauges are so far apart (duh!) I’m not sure it’s gonna work. And I think my #4 squares are too big, but can’t find my #3! Back to the yarn store. Day 2 and if I’m lucky I’ll get my yarn choices and gauge sorted by today. boo. hiss.
7/13/12 Ok, ok - I’m in! Totally crazy of me, with what time do I expect to do this? How many projects do I have staring at me from my “ready to start” basket? But I recently discovered Isager Spinni 1 and fell in love and wanted an excuse to use and then this fabulous designer starts a KAL - what can I say, I’m a yarn hoar!
Went to Tutto to swap one of my colors of the Spinni, but decided on Habu silk lace-weight in beautiful tweedish purplyness. Crossing fingers these two fibers jibe. Rough wool and rough silk … we’ll see!
