Notes

FINAL NOTE -- I accidentally worked the border with the wrong side facing. Fortunately, both sides are the same, except that on the correct side, you don’t see any of the ends bleeding through. On the wrong side (which is now the top because of my mistake) you can barely see some of the ends that were crocheted over. You probably wouldn’t have noticed if I didn’t mention it.

I am using a pixel chart designed by someone else, but the link to find the chart for all the Avengers can be found here:

There are 19 block rows and 16 columns. Each “block” is 16 SC by 16 rows. I have since realized this is not exactly square. I should have done 15 SC by 16 rows, because SC are wider than they are tall.

TECHNIQUE
For each block section (consisting of 16 rows each), I do not cut the yarn until I am finished with each section. When I “turn” (I flip it over), I rotate the basket of yarn and then pick up the new colors as I approach them. I switch colors in the middle of each SC so that the lines are clean. Here is a video I made showing what I mean:

YARN
I am using Red Heart with Love, Caron Pound, Red Heart Super Saver, and Vanna’s Choice. I don’t remember the actual color names, so I guessed.

I just started the blanket today. Instead of starting with a CH, I am starting with Foundation Single Crochet because it will keep the beginning row from looking “holey” when I come around for the border.

In the middle of row 15. -- After taking almost a year break, I decided to pick this up again because I needed something to work on that wasn’t thread. I have arthritis now in my hands from working with thread and tiny hooks for so long, so I thought I could try working on this, and it is going well. I had to frog 16 rows (1 entire block row) because I did it wrong. And then after fixing it and doing another 16 or so rows, I found out I dropped a stitch back where I frogged it. But it’s okay; the dropped stitch is at a color change so you can’t see it at all. But it still bugs me.

I finished everything but the border. It’s HUGE! I’ll measure it after I add a border. I’m thinking of doing 2 rows of SC (grey, red) and then a final row of grey but in reverse-SC.

FINISHED
The border is (1) SC across the top and bottom, but SC+CH across both sides (grey), (2) the same as the first border row (red), and then (3) Reverse-SC across top/bottom, reverse-SC + CH across both sides (grey). I included one close-up picture of the border.
