Wool and the Gang sent me the kit to try out this hat and I pretty much love it. Super bulky and soft so it should be great for the Chicago winter. It took about 2/3 of the skein and I’m debating making a giant pom with the rest to stick on top.

Took about 2 hours from start to finish which included a break to chat with a friend and fix her unraveling mitten. Super quick knit & would be great for a beginner with the basic knit & purl down pat, the only problem might be getting any sort of gauge with such a huge needle.

After quite a bit of wear I find that the yarn has gotten pretty gnarly looking, a product of it being a giant single ply and getting shoved in and out of a bag and worn on my head all winter. Still for the price it would be kind of a bummer.
