Notes

Best project ever! Struggled a bit while actually working on it but the look on my son’s face when I finished it.. perfection. He was so excited about his Doctor and completely involved in every detail. Made me do the bowite 3 times and stayed by my side til 1:00 in the morning while I did the hair to “make sure you get it just right”. I still have to make the jacket but the finished doll has not left his arms since I tucked in the last thread. Worth every single minute!

February 11 - Nick is beyond excited about this! Beyond!!

February 12 - had a very awkward conversation in the yarn store about the “correct” colour for skin tone. Thank goodness I had the picture with me!

March 1 - so far have a bald head on a stick :)
“The old key in the quiff routine, classic!”
“You’ve shaved your head”
“Yep, clever plan to get us past the shield”
“You got bored one night, didn’t you?”
“Yeah, tiny bit bored”
“Is that what happened to your eyebrows?”
“No, they’re just delicate”
“Put it back on”
“Why?”
“Your ears are like rocket fins”

March 15 - round three of making the pants. First pair were brown and Nick objected. Second pair I got the gauge wrong and couldn’t squish his torso into them! Third round, up a size in hook, totally amusing the kids by wearing a camping headlamp to make it a little easier to see my stitches in black yarn. Will be VERY happy to be finished these pants!

March 19 - finished the ^&^* pants! One leg is skinnier than the other so I’m hoping Nick doesn’t notice. Now…on to the hair. He’s already rejected two bowties and the hair is SUPER important. Toes crossed (need my fingers!)

March 20 - finished! Stayed up til 1:00 am with Nick leaning over my shoulder making sure I got the hair right!!

Thank you SO much to Robyn from Les Lainges du Petit Mouton for all technical help and emotional support via text an email. “Emergency” instructions for hdc when I couldnt’ remember how to do one was invaluable to progress!
