Notes

Had this queued for ages with the intention of making a Missoni Falls Cowl. Cast on 208 stitches last night and knit 10 rounds. Every time I wound up w increasing 1 stitch per pattern row. Could NOT figure out what I was doing wrong! Frogged it this morning and played on Instagram for a bit. Came across the Lazy Sunday Cowl and it sounded like an easy, perfect alternative!

As I am at the cottage and have limited yarn options I’m going to proceed with the Koigu. My plan w the Missoni was to use one skein at a time for solid blocks of colour. But I love the stripes on the original Lazy Sunday so we’ll see how the mood takes me!

Going with the solid blocks of colour and totally happy with the results. Charlie the dog ate the last of my dark purple! And the medium and light purples don’t work as well together as I had hoped (but yay for swatching! I’m learning :) ). So I’m adding in a touch of green that I think will look great with the variegated. Fingers crossed - and no more puppy playdates…

Have decided to keep the light purple in - worried about length of the cowl. Mr. Ed says they aren’t from the same part of the colour wheel - the middle purple has more reds and the light purple has more blues.. so combined they still make purple right??

September 3 - finished! Totally bungled the Kitchener stitch so I cast off and mattress stitched it. Not terrible, but definitely a visible seam. Fussed over whether to twist or not when joining - instagram friends all said to not twist but Grandpa and both my boys - who, to be fair, could see and handle the actual cowl - all firmly and emphatically agreed that it should be twisted. So twisted it was. While I was knitting it I though when I would make it again I would use less than 200 stitches, but in the end, I think it’s just right. not long enough to double wrap but SO cozy!

Forgot to measure how long it was before joining, but I’ll check the Muskoka chair when I go back to the cottage - that will give me a pretty close approximation :)

Yarn = $13.75 per skeinx7
