Here’s my kid sized ear warmer recipe (3-6 years old with head circumference 19-20 inches):

Holding two fingering weight yarns together, (dk weight),

Cast on 54 stitches leaving a long tail to cinch headband later.

Split sts in half for magic loop method or preferred knitting method.

K1 P1 continuously in the round until tube measures 19.5 inches from CO edge or until desired size.

Bind off in pattern.

Sew tube together with tail from CO edge (or BO, either one, doesn’t matter) with a whip stitch. Then gently pull yarn to cinch center together.

Then wrap extra yarn around and around the joined area to give more support and shape. Knot and poke end inside headband.

Optional name tag:
With your Cricut, cut out name on HTV. Center the name to leather and iron on low heat setting. Be sure to put a thin piece of fabric or parchment paper over leather to not damage the fabric.

Using a sharp needle and matching embroidery floss or thread, whip stitch the ends of the name tag on the inside of headband. Knot and weave in in trying to keep inside smooth to not irritate forehead.
