Beta-knitting this lovely textural design by Orlane (@tete_beche) for the Fibre Company. It is going to be the perfect addition for fall.

26-09-2019

The “Bowness” pattern is fairly straight forward for an advanced beginner to intermediate knitter. I would not recommend for a beginner or as a first sweater. The textural pattern made up of knits and purls is engaging while still creating a classic and subtle pattern.

Modifications:

  1. Had extra yarn so decided to knit the neckband twice wide and fold it down to create a folded neck.
  2. Did not do any decreases in the body but instead knit it straight.
  3. Cast on more sts than called for in the pattern when separating for sleeves and body to be able to maintain the integrity of the stitch pattern down both sides of the body. This is also a reason why I did not do any body decreases, I wanted the stitch pattern to be the same down the whole body.
  4. Knit the bottom ribbing an extra .25 inches for a slightly longer sweater. I found that the sweater was a bit too cropped and wanted it to be a bit longer. The extra length in the ribbing and some aggressive blocking got it to the just-at-the-hip-length that I was aiming for.

Pattern remarks:

  1. This is a cropped sweater so works well for short torsos. Extra yarn may be needed to knit the body longer than specified by the pattern.
  2. The instructions were a bit vague after separating for sleeves about how to maintain the stitch pattern of the body, hence why I went my own way and cast-on the number of sts necessary to maintain the stitch pattern. I did not go by what was specified by the pattern.
  3. Overall an enjoyable knit and an even more enjoyable finished sweater! Very warm, soft, and cozy!
