I have been eyeing the recent babaà knitwear collections and wanting a cozy cardigan for awhile now. I did not want to have to purl back across rows though so decided to use this as a chance to teach myself how to steek. Plan is to have the body of the sweater be in the undyed Caspian colorway and the button band and trims in the Borreal colorway.

Finished the body. Contemplating whether to steek now or finish the sleeves first before. Setting aside for now to work on some holiday gifts.

Finished first sleeve, knit it to 14inches and then changed to Boreal (green) yarn to knit the last 8 rounds k2, p2 with the green trim. Needing some motivation to start the 2nd sleeve now…

Finished both sleeves so all the sweater is awaiting for is prepping it for steek.

Using the Kate Davis Designs “reinforcing and cutting” a steek tutorial, I’ve reinforced the part that is going to be cut. https://katedaviesdesigns.com/2012/04/29/steeks-2-reinfor...
Took me an entire episode of one of the new Gilmore Girls episodes, but steek has been reinforce.
Now I’m hesitant to cut it just yet, so I knit another swatch, re-inforced it and am doing another test. Better to be safe!

Finished all my knitting last night! Knit the collar double high and whip-stitched it down. Really pleased with the way this came out. It was my first time steeking, first time ship-stitching, and all improved with no pattern. Can’t wait to block this and find just the right buttons for it. I may wear it without blocking it even, it is so soft and squishy!

Finally got around to blocking this today. Just need to wait for it to dry and then sew on buttons!
