In continuing my goal to knit only from my stash, I decided to join Very Shannon’s “Tops, Tanks, and Tees KAL” to use up some cotton chord made out of recycled denim jeans that I bought out of curiosity. Plus it was super economical, at only $1.25 for 50g. Recycled 100% cotton denim turned into cotton chord, naturally that would peak my interest!

I only had 4 balls of the lighter denim color and 2 balls of the darker denim color so I didn’t have much to make a garment with. That is why I decided to go “no pattern” and improvise a cropped tank. I added in the pencil stripes throughout mainly because I didn’t think I’d have enough of the light color to knit up my entire garment with.

I also decided to make a split henley at the front neck so I could use some black tortoiseshell buttons I took off a men’s blazer that was being discarded on King’s Day. (That is the Dutch national holiday where the entire city becomes a flea market and people give things away or sell them for super cheap.)

WATG just released a new recycled denim yarn that is sold out already, so I would say this DROPS brand one is a great alternative. Once again, I think I am ahead of things because this recycled denim yarn was purchased in late 2015 :)
