T7R2 Challenge (Nerdology): THE SHIRTS OFF OUR BACKS

It’s everyone’s favorite Belgian detective from team
Writer and team 1 More Page- Hercule Poirot! Nerd wars Nerdology project. Little grey wristwarmers!

T-shirt can be found here.

“Mon Dieu, mon ami, but use your little grey cells!”

This yarn is lovely and super soft. Next time I’m in DC I will definitely buy some more at the Looped Yarn Works store.

notes:

  1. Crochet provisional cast on.

  2. I found it helpful when picking up the 41 lace flap sts to divide the edge into quarters with safety pins. Pick up 10 sts between each pin plus 1 st.

  3. SSP: The way I’m doing SSP is p2tog tbl. I don’t mind that the sts are twisted. It’s really not noticeable.

  4. Border: Pick up 21 sts on top of flap. Pick up 22 sts on bottom flap to account for the 1 missing st from the provisional cast on. Total sts in border= 199, (top edge= 69, flap edge= 59, bottom edge= 71).

  5. Do not attempt to knit the entire border with one 32” circ needle. Trust me, just don’t. Use 2 circs or dpns. It will be so much easier.

  6. Instead of buttons, I backstitched the flap down with the yarn and then used grey sewing thread to sew on clear beads. The buttonholes made it easier to figure out where to sew down the beads. The beads also sit sort of inside the buttonholes which is nice because they won’t catch on anything. They also reflect the light nicely but aren’t too blingy.

I really like these mitts!
