Notes

See her post on how she liked them!
++++++
I’ve rearranged the notes here in reverse chronological order - FYI. The hat in pic #2 is the Dobby Hat in my projects.
++++++
Phew! She has them and said she liked the whole package (but I’m still a little concerned - she hasn’t put up photos and didn’t say anything specific about the mittens…..I’m probably just being pessimistic). Now I can put up my crappy photos. The DD absconded with the camera, so we’re stuck with cell phone pictures only. Sorry.
++++++
Finally FINALLY done! They are not perfect - but they are acceptable to give as a gift (just barely), plus I am six weeks LATE. They are wonderfully soft & warm; I sure hope she likes them. Husband says they are “too busy”; I’m worried she’ll hate them….
++++++
The kitten is having fun pulling out all the pins in the mittens as they are drying. If these get done, it’ll be a bloody miracle.
++++++
Took nearly 3 hours to weave in all the ends…….
++++++
With all the crazy problems: gauge, yarn dominance (which I did not fix as you can see in pic #4), too tight thumbs, my biggest problem has been our new kitten who is always attacking my knitting.
I made two plastic thumb inserts to block the thumbs out - thank goodness it worked.
++++++
Had to start second thumb over-messed up the pattern. GAH! They are too tight!!!
++++++
Finally got both mittens done(all except for the thumbs which I like to do together last ) and had gauge problems like I’ve never had! Had to re-knit second mitten. (see last 2 pics)
++++++
Got all the way up to 2 rows past the thumb hole & decided it was too small! Ripped back to wrist. I’m very glad I did & am much happier with it now.
++++++
Re-jiggered the Ranka pattern for Devil’s Snare. Changed palm pattern entirely, added all the House colors and a Vikkel braid or two. Using the navy marl cashmere yarn double as it’s really a laceweight & somewhat fragile. I’ll still have plenty.
+++++++
Oh yeah-pulled everything for these out of stash, ans it’s all really lovely stuff (except one yarn that I needed only a tiny bit of for its color).
++++++
Finally have the pattern picked out….now let’s go stash diving!
+++++++
Hmmmmmm. NOT TELLING!!
