Very nice pattern! :)
I have never done the heel in such way, but I must say this sock fits perfectly.

Data:
I started the gusset in the 23 row of second pattern repeat.
I made 3 pattern repeat in the foot and 2 repeat in the leg.
I made 10 rounds of ribbing.
Time of knitting a sock - 8 h 45 min.
Yardage a sock is 123 m = 30g.
