Notes

I thought the fan part looked like some kind of an architectural motif so I wanted to make it look like metal or stone. I dug out this beautiful coppery yarn and the the companion yarn I once spun to look like its patina. If you look very closely you can see the bits of copper silk. Next time I won’t card so aggressively.

This took no time at all to knit but I really procrastinated on the blocking and the weaving of ends.

I wasn’t sure how this yarn acted when wet so I just stuck it on my wool head, slouched it up a bit and lightly steamed it with my iron’s steam setting.

To get the fan to lay flat I pinned it voodoo style to the head and steamed away. See last pic.

I also sewed the fan to the hat while still on the head. This ensured that both the fan and the hat stretched at the same rate. It was awesome! :-D
