Interesting pattern. A project to do while conversing or watching movies because it’s very repetitive.
I am using my collection of crochet string that I buy in supermarkets and dollar stores when we are away in our caravan. The colours vary and I like the colour changes.
I think it’s turned out a bit bulky with my string. I wish I’d used a bigger hook to counteract this, but it’s another learning experience.
Looking forward to finishing this and moving on to a new project.
I didn’t really like the loose open sides of the original design so I modified it.
Made the first row down the sides, 1 sc in the end of the trebles, 2 sc in the 3 ch spaces. Next row was sc 2 together across the net part of the sides. Third row was 1sc, sc 2 together across.
This gathers in the sides more. I thought it would be easy for items to fall out otherwise. And I prefer the narrower shape.
I made the handles a bit wider. I added them after the rest of the bag was finished. Sewed on some trimming and a button to close the top.
Done.
I like it but it is huge. I love the natural colours.
I’d make it smaller and with finer yarn if I made it again.
I think I still prefer the string bags made in the round.
The packaway ones are my favourites.
