Had nearly finished this but after a day that started with a big earthquake and ended with a long stint of babysitting the 3 and 1 year old, I decided that I had made way too many mistakes and pulled it undone back to the first row.
Now doing it again with stitch markers at the start and end to keep it even.

A much better result today. Stitch markers helped keep the shape even.
I just have the border to do.

Made an extra row of sc down the sides to make the border even in width all around.
