This bag has been on my to-do list for months. It’s finally reached the top.

I seriously dislike making motifs repeatedly’ which is why my granny square blanket has languished for about 20 years.
However I am trying to be disciplined. If I can complete a cat bus, I can certainly persevere with this bag.
So I have made 8 motifs. I admit to a dolls clothes crocheting sanity sabbatical partway through.
Now it’s on to multiple beaks and eyes. At least they are small and will not take long. (I hope)
I have watched All of Downton Abbey and am now on to Wallander.

Beaks and eyes done. Started on the square motifs. One done.

All owls assembled. I didn’t have the buttons when I made the eyes so the buttons were sewn on with thread after Insewed the eyes on.
All the motifs are made and ready to put together.

I sewed down the horns. I just used brown yarn for all of them, putting a little stitch at the back of the horn so it didn’t show.
I found it was very helpful to mark the spaces, when joining.

All motifs, sides and bottom joined. Top crocheted.
Ready to darn in ends and make handles.
Went down to 4.5mm hook to crochet do around top. Did reverse sc row with 5mm hook.

The project stalled for months when I got to the lining stage. My sewing machine was not accessible so I had to wait until I was able to use it again. I made two pockets in the lining.
I sewed the lining into the bag by hand and then attached the handles.
Thanks again to KrzyKritter for the handle inspiration.
I am really happy to have finished this project.
