Okay, finished off the rainbow part of the cowl, and now I need to figure out what’s going on with the nyan cat. The pop tart is 19 pixels tall by 21 pixels wide - nearly a square, with rounded edges. My pop tart piece is 7.5” wide, so it’ll need to be 6.75” tall (or a 13.5” loop, which is how I’m going to do this).

I’ve added a 3-stitch i-cord border to each edge of the pop tart so the edge curling is intentional; I might also fold the finished tube so that the purl side is out, just for texture purposes. We’ll see.

Crap, I don’t know where my pattern went. Well, I’ll just sorta make this part up then:

Frosting: CO 39.

R1: k2, $yo, k2, k2tog, k2tog, k2, yo, k1$ repeat inside $to last st, k1 (modified Garter Ripple Baby Blanket stitch)

R2: p across

R3: k across

Repeat these three rows a total of 15 times, adding beads randomly as you see fit (you could also sew them on afterward, I guess). BO using shaping row stitches to get everything to wiggle properly.

Head: Using 5xUS6 DPNs, begin as with Owl Puffs, up through R10 (a knit round), then:

R11: (kfb, k5) around - 42 sts

R12: k around

R13: (kfb, k6) around - 48 sts

k 10 rounds. Note: Somewhere in there I decided to shuffle stitches around so that the beginning of the round was between the two stitches created by kfb (i.e. transfer one stitch from needle 1 to needle 4). It’s just a little neater looking when you smush it out.

R24: k1, ssk, k18, k2tog, k2, ssk, k18, k2tog, k1 - 44 sts

R25: k around

Okay, ears tiem: k6, k2tog, k1. Put the next 26 sts on a holder; k1, ssk, k6 - 16 sts. k around. Decrease as with the first round every other round until 8 sts remain; kitchener closed. Leave 4 sts next to ear on holder, move next 18 sts to needles, leave last 4 sts on holder. Attach yarn after 9 sts on needles and repeat ear as before.

Legs: I’m essentially gonna make these like stubby glove fingers.

CO 16 sts. Join in the round, knit 8 rounds. k2tog around for one round, break yarn and thread through remaining sts.

Make four of those.

Tail: CO 8 st, join in the round, knit 6 rounds. On 7th round, k6, wrap and turn, k4, wrap and turn, k to end of round (this makes a little bend in the tail). Knit another 6 rounds, then k2tog around for one round, break yarn and thread through remaining sts.
