Notes

Brioche Mod: instead of knitting into the stitch below, I’m knitting those stitches as brioche (see the explanation I worked up). Seems to make a more tidy stitch with more-defined texture, though I’ll definitely need to block this when I’m finished because the brioche fabric is a bit looser than the knit-into-stitch-below fabric of the first three repeats.

The S1 pattern then becomes:

R1 (ws): k1, $ sl1yo, p1, repeat from $ to last two sts, sl1yo, k1.

R2 (rs): k1, $ brk, p1, repeat from $ to last two sts, brk, k1.

R3-8: repeat R1-2.

R9 (ws): k1, $ p1, sl1yo, repeat from $ to last two sts, p1, k1.

R10 (rs): k1, $ p1, brk, repeat from $ to last two sts, p1, k1.

Transition from S1 to S2: on the transitional row (after r14 of the S1 pattern), I am in fact knitting into the row below, but on the non-selvedge k1 I am doing the sl1yo. The S2 rows then become:

R1: k1, $ brk, sl1yo, repeat from $ to last two sts, brk, k1.

R2: k1, $ sl1yo, brk, repeat from $ to last two sts, sl1yo, k1.

Transition from S2 to S3: for the setup row, I’m knitting brioche in pattern (k1, $sl1yo, brk, repeat from $) and moving the increase to the END of the row to keep it in pattern, and changing it to an m1 before the selvedge k1.

R1: k1, $ p1, brk, repeat from $ to last stitch, k1.

R2: k2, $ sl1yo, k1, repeat from $ to end.

R3: k1, $ brk, p1, repeat from $ to last stitch, k1.

R4: k1, $ sl1yo, k1, repeat from $ to last stitch, k1.

10” into S2 with 17 repeats. I’ll do a total of 34 for this section, then.

Steam blocking sections 1 and 3 separately since section 2 doesn’t really need it. Stretched section 1 to 19” by 13.5”.
