6/13 tada! boyfriend took pics… thanks to my lurv.

6/12-wove in ends this morning. it’s blocking now. i’m using the pin and spray method of blocking… i’ve never blocked silk… wool is so resilient, and this yarn cost so much (which is the only reason that this shawl was only semi-permanently lumped in a corner), that i’ve been terrified of screwing it up at almost every step of the way. also used the string threaded through the straight bits (down the middle and along the top) to mostly keep those straight (since my pinning still leaves something to be desired).

update: finished knitting. now i need to block it. i ended up ripping back about four times, and i didn’t finish the edges exactly according to the pattern, but it looks fine. it’ll be interesting to see how much it stretches. it looks pretty small right now, but i can pull it pretty large.

this was my first time using fingering weight yarn. i’m used to worsted weight, so i had no concept of how much i would get out of that skein. i started with a clapotis. it was a touch bland for this yarn. i’d been wanting to try the shetland triangle for ages, so i frogged the clapotis and re-started.

the shetland has been knitting up really quickly. the problem now is that i can’t get an accurate idea of how big the shawl is. i finished it once, cast off, and stretched it to see how big it was. very small, to my dismay. so back onto the needles. and because of the stitch, i didn’t want to just rip it out and then be hopelessly lost, so i’ve been going back stitch by stitch by stitch… by… stitch. it’s very slow going…….. i’m a little discouraged at the moment. but maybe soon i will have it back to the repeat section so i can finish this up.
