For the hood, I followed this, as below (NOT MY DESIGN)

Hood:
I have unvented a way to do the hood which I love doing and I think compliments the design of the BSJ well. I did the hood rather like a toe of a sock. I picked up around the neck, and on the first row I increased in each stitch. I ended up with approximately 80 stitches. Then I started doing the short row heel method…ie knit to one from the end, turn, slip one, repeat. When I got down to two stitches I started to increase up again just as for a toe. I think the shape of the hood is gorgeous, and there is no seaming. I cast off the same way as for the BSJ itself.
