Commissioned shawl.
Using schema (bottom photo) for the shape. (The red symbols are markers, to be slipped at all times). Only even rows mentioned - other rows, K2, slip marker, P to last marker, K 2.
First pattern: Razor Shell Two
Second Pattern Miniature Leaf2
Third pattern: Horseshoe Lace (though I’m changing it a bit…)
The photos don’t do justice to the colour; blame the washed out winter sunshine! The wool goes from a dark green through to quite a light green. It’s lovely and very, very soft.
The picture of the shawl as a whole looks rather unappealing - lace always looks that way before it’s blocked - it will open out to look like it does where it’s being held apart.
(If you look very closely at the whole-shawl picture, you’ll see a sort of ridge between the razor shell and the horseshoe pattern. The ridge is a life line - a bit of wool going through all the stitches, in case I have to rip back to that point. It’ll be removed once the shawl is done).

I’m in to the final major pattern -which is old shale. At the moment, the shawl is about 36 inches in each section (so 36 x 3 for the width) and about 22 inches deep.
This is a lace weight wool, and it’s lovely and soft and, well, squishy :) But it’s a bit heavier than a lot of laceweights. It’s not a 4 ply, but I think it might be on the heavy side of 2 ply. The colours still aren’t being done justice by tonight’s photos, which are on a black background.

Nearly on the home straight, now - I’ve not measured it with a tape measure, but on me it goes from neck to elbow - not quite long enough but getting there, getting there! The newest photos are at the top - still not showing the colours exactly but closer!
March 2 - Blocking!!
The colours of the photos STILL don’t do it justice…. For reference, for the blocking photo - it’s on a queen size bed, and the shawl is folded in half!
The colours are closer to the second and third photos - but those are actually a bit LIGHTER than the shawl. The colour is THIS ONE.
