I loved knitting it from the beginning to the end!
What I learned with this cardi:
- Top down, seamless sweater: (I could try it on my son while knitting it, very reassuring as I had a few mishaps sizewise… Plus when you are done with knitting, you are (almost) done with the whole project!
-tubular cast off for the sleeves I followed this link link text
- Shawl collar: very impressive at first, but easy to do if you follow intructions. I saw a few people complaining that picked up wraps was showing, I follow this link link text That I use when knitting socks: it’s perfect, impossible to tell where the short rows were!
-picking up stitches in the middle of the cardi for the pockets (I wanted to use as much yarn as possible). After a few trials, I used this link link text
- I had holes under the arms when I picked up stitches, however the way I tried, so at the end, I concealed the holes (and close them!!!) with double stitches.
I used my precious Tosh Sport in Mourning Dove so I knit it in a big size, I am a tight knitter and my son wont outgrow it too fast!

Got the gauge. Let“s see if it changes anything on the outcome.

7 buttonholes to work on a 89 stitch band.
According to link text I have 73=21 stitches used by buttonholes,
89-21=68 stitches remaining.
How many spaces between buttonholes? 8 (always one more than buttonholes)
68/8=8.5
Great.
According to link text, it calculates 11 stitches between button holes if I leave 1 stitch on the top section and 1 stitch on the bottom section.
According to link text I get the same result and some explanations even:
It even gives
Work 1 st
Work 3 sts for buttonhole
Work 11 sts
Repeat from 5 times
Work 3 sts for last buttonhole
Work 1 st

I finished yesterday all the knitting. Now I have to weave in the ends, sew the pockets, and add buttons.
The buttons will be an expedition with my son (he wants to choose them himself!)

Finished all the sewing and end-weaving!
Only buttons are missing now. Pictures to come (after washing).
