hawkeye, otherwise known as clint barton, started off as a villain in a team with the black widow, natalia romanova, and really first made his presence known in early tales of suspense iron man stories (and avengers stories). he broke into 890 fifth avenue (tony stark’s mansion / avengers hq) and tied up their butler (edwin jarvis) to make a case for why he should be an avenger. he ended up part of cap’s kooky quartet (cap, hawkeye, quicksilver, scarlet witch) after the founding members (iron man, wasp, giant man, thor) took a leave of absence, and has been in and out of teams on both the east and west coasts ever since.

the pattern reminded me of the chevrons on his modern uniform, and the yarn is almost exactly the color of his classic uniform (you know, the one with the dumb domino mask and tunic).
