Solid Socks July 2010 KAL. Theme = country flag colours.

Note: Originally this is a 12 x 4 pattern repeat - asking for a 48-stitch CO but that is TINY (child size) so I’ve had to modify it to 12 x 5 ie 60 sts.

These socks are very pretty, quite enjoyable to knit, seem to progress fairly fast and are doable in front of the tv - I want to make another pair in sport weight. The Yarntini yarn is perfect for these, very soft and just the right level of semi-solidness - enough to make the socks a bit interesting, but not too much to get in the way of the pattern.

Used 55g of yarn.

Sock 1: 10-11 days (co 6/7 - bo 16/7)
Sock 2: 10-11 days (co 17/7 - bo 27/7)

MODIFICATIONS
PERSONAL NOTES (nb: the below will only make sense to me so please ignore)

Cast on 60 stitches instead of 48 to make it a 12st x 5 pattern :
Needle 1: 12 stitches
Needle 2: 24 stitches (with half-way marker)
Needle 3: 12 stitches
Needle 4: 12 stitches

Leg: As written
Heel: worked on 2 x 12st as written (needle 1+4)
Foot: Pattern x 3. Needles 1 and 4= knit only

THEN: 2 knit rows
Move stitches ---> 15sts/needle
3 knit rows

Toe Decrease: start as written (Decrease Rnd + Knit Rnd-56sts)
Works out like this:

D-36
D-32
D-28
(ie as written)
Add 2 decrease rounds
D-24 then D-20

(ie right at the end, do 5 knit rounds instead of 3 - 20 sts remain)

Basically: 7 knit rounds added (5 before decrease and 2 during decrease)
