Cast on 9 stitches with Stephen Wests garter tab cast on.

Row 3 - k2, place sm, m1L (f), k2, m1L (f) place sm, k1, place sm, m1R (b), k2, m1R, place sm, k2

Row 4, and all even rows - k2, p to last sm, k2

Row 5, k2, slip sm, m1L (f), k to sm, m1L (f) slip sm, k1, slip sm, m1R (b), k to sm, m1R, slip sm, k2

(So 4 st increase on odd rows).

Complete 16 rows stocking.

Textured pattern:
First(right) side: k2, slip sm, m1L (f) then
Slip 1 st as if to purl, k1, yo, pass sl st over the knitted one and yo,
rep to sm, m1L (f), slip sm, k, slip m, m1R (b),
Second(left) side:
yo, k1, place these 2 stitches on left needle, slip 3rd stitch over the first 2 stitches, slip those 2 stitches (they’re the yo and k1) on the right needle,
rep to sm, m1R, slip sm, k2

Rep row 4 (purl row with 2 stitches knit at each end)

Complete:

28 rows garter (knit both sides, increase 2 stitches each side, after the 2 knit stitches for the border)
Cast off with i-cord bind off after watching Stephen wests vid - cable co 3, knit 2, slip slip knit those 2 through back loops, slip 2 knitted stitches from right stitch back to left, rep from
