Notes

Having abjectly failed to figure out how to make any of the other scarves I wanted to make, I decided to try Clapotis by machine.

I have only 140 needles to work with, which meant I couldn’t do a particularly wide Clap, or I’d constantly be shifting stitches, and I don’t have a garter bar.

After trying out a 5 needles in-work, 3 needles out version that I had to rip back for other reasons, I decided on using only 2 stitches out of work rather than three. The scarf itself is relatively narrow so leaving only 2 stitches made the gaps seem more proportional to the size of the whole thing. I am hoping that they will not close up on me.

I ran into some problems with needles skipping stitches, but other than that it was fairly straightforward. With help from the gals in the Machine Knitting group, I determined that my best method for moving stitches back to the left was to put them all on a circ and then transfer them back. It was fairly tedious, but much less painful than anything else I tried.
