K and R-- If you see this, Can’t wait to meet your little one! Tell her not to grow too fast :)

NOTES:
Plan as best I remember it:
CO 40 stitches with the Lavender yarn held double (using circular #8, 16 inch needle)

K1P1 for a few rows
K 2 rows
K 2 rows with some hand painted looking sock yarn from my Mom’s stash (held single)
Alternate a few times with those colors

P 2 rows of Lavender to flip the fabric and make a flat top

Decrease in a staggered way over the next few rows to avoid lines
(http://knitwithkt.blogspot.com/2007/10/annas-flat-topped-...)
I think I did this:
K3, K2 tog around
K around
K2tog, K2 around (in contrast color)
K around
K1, K2 tog around (in main color)
K around
K2 tog around (in contrast color)
With remaining stitches, put them on 2 needles and close with kitchener stitch.

Brim:
Pick up 40 stitches around the top of the ribbing.
K around (so that the purl side is on top, or purl from the other side)
K1, KFB around
K around
At some point, switch to contrast color-- continue increasing outwards every few rows. At some point I remember doing a row of K3, KFB.
Last few rows were in a slightly different color of yarn from the same maker-- with more black for the sombrero look.
