So, original design, done as follows in a Maine produced sport-weight wool. (The colors are buttercup - a gorgeous vibrant golden yellow - and licorice, a brown-black, for Hufflepuff)
- 8 rows seed stitch in black (the rest is stockinette, between 8 stitch seed borders)
- 4 rows black
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- 20 rows black - duplicate stitch letters
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- 4 rows black
- 40 rows gold - duplicate stitch badger + initial
- 4 rows black
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- 20 rows black - duplicate stitch letters
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- 20 rows black - duplicate stitch letters
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- 20 rows black - duplicate stitch letters
- stripe pattern (4 rows gold, 4 rows black, 4 rows gold)
- continue black until 250 rows (this is something like 40+ rows)
Repeat for the other side. Graft at the back.
The duplicate stitches are text (“hufflepuff”, “hard work” across the bottom, then “loyal”, “just” up the right side as you wear it, and “true” “fair” up the left side) with a badger from a chart and a capital letter H. on the gold, and reversed on the other side (so the badgers are looking inwards.)
